Barry Lord
The famous Canadian museum planner and consultant created a concept to sell Bröhan’s Bauhaus Collection to the Gulf state Qatar. Torsten Bröhan had passed this contact on to Balzer so that he together with Lord would continue the sales efforts. Two of Lord‘s contacts – Victoria and Albert Museum, London and the Museum Authority of Qatar – were approached. A sale to V&A fell through because Bröhan refused to sell to a big museum, because his collection would probably just disappear in storage there. And Qatar simply was not interested – money probably would not have been a problem there.
